HOW TO SNOOZE THOSE WINTER BLUES

"Welcome, winter. Your late dawns and chilled breath make me lazy, but I love you nonetheless."

-Terri Guillemets

January, February, maybe March - a slice of time that feels like we have permission to buckle down and properly “winter”.  December is a BIG month with BIG things and BIG buildup. After that, if we let ourselves, we can deflate… and revolve around smaller, simpler things.

But January has to have something delightful in it! It’s a month that can be hard on so many of us, mental health wise. So, while those perpetually grey days roll past until Spring, let’s lie fallow and orchestrate small joys...

One of our long-time customers, Crystal Bootsma, is a master of curating simple joys. She says, "Small pleasures brighten these long, grey days: a pop of green, a cozy candle and natural elements. It's winning combo for me, especially as I work from home." (photo below: Crystal Bootsma)

So pick your pleasure. Sit still and listen to a song with your eyes closed. Use a coffee mug that feels good to hold. Burn the candle you’ve been keeping for a special occasion. Treat yourself to a fluffy new throw and pair it with a favourite book.

Invest in a small daily inspiration and your wintering self will thank you. Tell us in the comments what your favourite simple pleasures are for winter!
